Village Pond

Following a visit by the Senior Environmental Health Officer of Rutland County Council the recent problem with the village pond has been diagnosed as a build-up of nutrients resulting in an invasion of algae. Bryan Gallagher of Pond Cottage has kindly arranged a working party to remove the algae and weed on Saturday 26 May at 10 am. As soon as possible afterwards oxygenators and pond plants will be inserted to maintain the water quality.. Read More »

New councillor

At its April meeting the Parish Council voted to co-opt Michael Ferrow of High House, Wakerley Road. Michael has lived in Barrowden for four years with his wife Lesley, who has joined the editorial team of the parish magazine. Michael held a series of senior managerial positions in the oil industry in Aberdeen and abroad. The PC looks forward to his participation in decisions and to his contribution to its work.. The village poll re electoral ward boundaries has now closed. The result is:

Join with neighbouring villages 38

Retain present boundaries 13

Neighbourhood Plan Update

Having evaluated the tender returns, and with our grant application being approved, we are in the process of confirming the appointment of a consultant who will review our documentation prepared so far.
